CLEMSON UNIVERSITY. The Department of Environmental Engineering and EarthSciences invites applications for a tenure-track position in environmental engineering and science. A fall 2014 appointment is anticipated at the Assistant Professor level. Professional licensure or the ability to obtain a PE is desirable.
Candidates must hold a PhD in environmental engineering, environmental science, or a closely related discipline. The successful candidate is expected to develop an active, competitive, and externally funded research program along with a distinguished record of creative research and scholarship. A variety of research specializations will be considered, including water or wastewater treatment, hazardous waste remediation, environmental applications and risks associated with nanotechnology, air quality, fate and transport of emerging contaminants, quantitative analysis of global scale environmental problems, industrial ecology, systems engineering, life cycle assessment, environmentally sustainable energy processes, green engineering, probabilistic risk assessment, radioecology or similar fields. The candidate will advise M.S. and Ph.D. students in his or her specialty area. Excellent opportunities exist for collaboration with colleagues in the Department of Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences and other academic units on campus. The successful candidate is also expected to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and to provide support for our rapidly growing undergraduate degree in Environmental Engineering. Candidates should demonstrate potential for high-quality, effective teaching and mentoring.
